Australian actor Cate Blanchett has said she was eager to appear in the next Star Wars film if she could get close to the remote island of Skellig Michael.
The Irish island was used as the backdrop for J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens where the location of the missing Jedi Luke Skywalker was revealed.
Blanchett told the Irish edition of The Sun that she would be ‘‘game’’ to work with ‘‘the gifted creator’’ Abrams.
‘‘Star Wars I suspect, is probably a lot of fun,’’ she told The Sun.
‘‘But it would have to be on Skellig Michael.
‘‘I suspect that may be the only time a crew is allowed to be there.’’
The island located west of the Iveragh Peninsula is known for its monastic remains and was included on the World Heritage list in 1996.
