Turaton Music Company has been hitting all the right notes with its ‘Music Cafe — What’s on the Menu’ concerts this month.
Each year the company does a May concert but this year members decided to look outside the box by holding various concerts across the month in different towns.
Company music director Shirley Ferguson said the company wanted to include more towns and communities in the performances because not everyone could easily travel to Shepparton to listen to the choir.
‘‘I think it’s important for the communities we go to, it brings the communities together,’’ she said.
‘‘Those who come really enjoy the music and the choir loves singing together and presenting their concert repertoire.’’
So far concerts have been held at Rochester and Dookie and this weekend the company will perform at Dookie and Tatura.
There will also be concerts held early next month at Shepparton RSL to finish off the performance season.
Turaton Music Company has been running for about 73 years and delivers a wide range of songs performed by its enthusiastic members.
Mrs Ferguson said the ‘Music Cafe — What’s on the Menu’ performances would serve up a range of songs that people were sure to recognise from popular composers George Gershwin, Burt Bacharach, Oscar Hammerstein and Jerome Kern.
Turaton Music Company will hold a concert at Dookie Uniting Church Hall, Curtain St, Dookie, tomorrow at 7.30pm.
A concert will be held at Victory Hall, Hogan St, Tatura, on Sunday at 2pm.
Two concerts will be held at Shepparton RSL, Wyndham St, on Saturday, June 3, at 7.30pm and Sunday, June 4, at 2pm.
Tickets for all concerts are $20, but children under 14 will be admitted free.
Tickets can be bought at the door of the venue or at Budget Office Choice, 90 Fryers St, Shepparton.
