Delicious hot food and live entertainment are just some of the things to look forward to at the Winter Food Festival in Shepparton.
Created by Love Your Local’s Stacey Anderson and Lisa Rees, the food festival promises to take you on a culinary adventure through the region.
‘‘It started off as a market idea and then we felt that food seemed to be a popular option and something different,’’ Ms Anderson said.
Love Your Local was behind the Fryers St Food Festival and Ms Anderson said after the success of that event they thought winter would be a great challenge.
The Winter Food Festival will feature children’s activities, live music across the day, craft stalls and more than 15 hot food stalls, several dessert stands, produce stores and two bars.
Ms Rees said people attending the festival would also be able to collect a pass so they could come for lunch and then return for dinner.
‘‘It’s a great excuse to get with family and friends and try an array of food,’’ Ms Anderson said.
‘‘People in Melbourne get this every day, they can wander down to a couple of different spots for the food trucks and we’re lucky we can have it in Shepparton.’’
‘‘And having it in the multipurpose pavilion means even if it rains we’re covered, but it still will be cold so rug up,’’ Ms Rees said.
The Winter Food Festival is supported by Greater Shepparton City Council and sponsored by Poolwerx.
The Winter Food Festival is on Saturday from noon to 9pm at the multipurpose pavilion at the Shepparton Showgrounds.
Entry is $5 and free for those under 18.
