Step inside the magical world of Cinderella this evening at WestSide Performing Arts Centre in Mooroopna as Goulburn Valley Grammar School’s junior years students take to the stage.
After a busy three months of rehearsals, producer Helen Janke said the students were more than prepared for the performance.
‘‘They have loved it; they’ve been 100 per cent dedicated,’’ she said.
Ms Janke said they would perform an edited version of the original which will see the performance run for one hour with no interval.
‘‘It’s only one hour long so it’s perfect to bring the family along to,’’ she said.
Year 8 student Madeline Fleming was cast as Cinderella and said it would be her first time in a major lead role.
‘‘I’ve been in eight productions but this will be my first big lead role,’’ she said.
Madeline said she was so excited to find out she had been cast and she now felt prepared to do the fairytale great justice.
She stars alongside Year 7 student Tom Nethersole who plays Prince Charming and has had a wealth of experience on stage.
‘‘Our Prince Charming Tom has just finished up with The Sound of Music (Shepparton Theatre Arts Group),’’ Ms Janke said and added he would also perform in Initial Stages’ production of Les Miserables later this year.
Madeline said she had enjoyed portraying the development of Cinderella’s character. ‘‘Seeing her go from not as beautiful to becoming beautiful has been great,’’ she said.
Ms Janke encouraged the community to head along to the school’s three performances, which will take place this evening, tomorrow night and Saturday night.
‘‘All of the pieces of the jigsaw have come together; now they just need an audience.’’
Tickets for the show cost $15 and can be purchased from Goulburn Valley Grammar School, phone 58218155.
The performance will be held at WestSide, 141-179 Echuca Rd, Mooroopna.
