The Goulburn Valley Interschool Concert will see Shepparton’s musical talent in an evening of fun in Shepparton High School’s hall from 7pm on Friday.
The event will be run cabaret style and is informal, with each school getting time to showcase their bands, while also giving smaller contemporary acts a chance to perform on stage. The young musicians come from Shepparton High School, Goulburn Valley Grammar School, Shepparton Christian College, Wanganui Park Secondary College, Notre Dame College and Mooroopna Secondary College.
A combined band of 45 to 50 members from all schools will also perform on the evening.
‘‘It’s a great evening. I’ve been (attending) every year and it’s exciting (to) also be part of its organisation,’’ GVGS music prefect Year12 student Emma Jackson said.
‘‘We often don’t have many opportunities to meet the students from other schools.’’
A committee of about 15students from each school has been meeting together to plan the evening’s structure.
Shepparton High School member Jack Probst said he was looking forward to the evening and seeing what the other school’s bands were doing.
Tickets can be purchased from the door, and are priced at $5 per child, $10 per adult and $28 for a family ticket. Refreshments will also be available.
The proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to The Salvation Army.
