Slipping and sliding around on the ice was all part of the fun for adults and children who gave iceskating a go on Saturday.

The ice skating rink set up at the Shepparton Market proved to be a popular attraction for many skilled and beginning skaters who relished the opportunity to take part in the activity.

Mooroopna’s Emily Wandin, 12, loves skating and comes every year when it is in Shepparton.

Emily said she was nervous the first time she attempted skating, but had become more confident and loved trying different tricks like spins out on the ice.

Emily’s mother Sharon Wandin said it was great to see how passionate her daughter was about skating.

‘‘I just enjoy watching her skate and she loves it,’’ she said.

‘‘The first time we came she was on the side, not being able to do it and then the last few times we’ve come as many times as we could.’’

Ms Wandin said the would be at the ice rink every day this week.

For Adelaide’s Michael Lalic, who brings iceskating to Shepparton each year, it was great to see people’s skills and confidence progress.

Mr Lalic said this was the fifth time they had brought iceskating to Shepparton and it was a great school activity for children.

‘‘What I like about iceskating is working with the kids and giving them instruction and confidence,’’ he said.

‘‘We’ve made a lot of friends with the families and children.’’
