The roar of engines could be heard across Shepparton during the weekend as the 25th annual Springnats car festival brought thousands of people and their cars to town.
Springnats operations manager Les Adams said the weekend was a great success and they had their biggest Saturday night crowd in their nine year’s at the Shepparton Showground.
‘‘The street parade was fantastic and we had strong support from locals, which makes us proud to be here,’’ Mr Adams said.
‘‘It was an absolutely fantastic weekend, on Sunday we had some trying times with the weather that put pressure on the event schedule, but the weather came good.’’
Mr Adams said they had more than 600 competitors during the weekend with people coming from all over the country to be a part of the day.
‘‘We even had two competitors from New Zealand,’’ he said.
The burnout competition and street parade were the most well attended events.
Shepparton police sergeant Steve Murray said from a police perspective it was well run with minimal disruption.
‘‘There were no arrests or anything like that, police involvement was minimal, which is a reflection on how well run the event is,’’ Sgt Murray said.
