Buckets of fun: Amelia Wright, 4, and Lily Wright, 4, attended the event with hundreds of others.

Working hard: Shepparton Girl Guides volunteer Lyn Ford was busy handing out song booklets.

Look at me: Jed Strawhorn, 3, has fun with some props at Carols by Candlelight.

Hundreds gathered at the Queens Gardens last night at Shepparton’s annual Carols by Candlelight event.

The old sang tunes while the young ran around full of excitement wearing Santa hats and reindeer ears.

Classic songs including Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Silent Night were sung loud and proud.

Artists including Renee Rankin, Fortessima, Sean O’Brien and Megan Scott wowed the crowd — which spread to cover all four corners of the Queens Gardens.

The event culminated in a huge fireworks display after sunset.
