Performance artist Becky Hinton will make her Sun Festival debut at the annual Kids’ Party in the Waring Gardens today with her ‘Bubbleology’.

Bubbleology is a performance art show of creating and manipulating bubbles using various hand made contraptions.

Sun Festival committee member Neil Buckley said it’s not the first time Bubbleology has entertained locals, with the committee seeing a recent performance at a Deniliquin TAFE event.

Also on offer in the Waring Gardens from 9am to 1pm today will be face painting and mini games hosted by Fusion, plus a jumping castle.

Rides also return, including the popular merry-go-round which is free of charge.

Previously performing at the Sun Festival as ‘The Great Gizmo’, performer ‘Top Dog Bob’ will juggle, ride a unicycle and perform magic tricks for all.

Top Dog is also a snappy dresser and loves to interact with youngsters, along with the parents.

Sun Festival chairman Geoff Riley said Darryl’s Farmyard may also return to the festival, depending on the weather conditions. In the farmyard, children get the opportunity to get up close and personal with chickens, goats, pigs and other animals.

Food and drinks will be available throughout the day, including a sausage sizzle for $1 per sausage and a family favourite ice-cream stand to help keep you cool.

Mr Riley said with a forecast for a top of 42°C today, people are encouraged to attend the festival early.

‘‘We changed the start time from the traditional 10am to 9am because of the heat we usually get at this time of the year,’’ Mr Riley said.

‘‘Luckily for us the Deniliquin Waring Gardens provides lots of shade, and there will also be large containers of ice water which can be accessed for free.

‘‘While we understand it will be warm, it is important this event is supported,’’ he said.
