Arm yourself for a shot at militaria

February 28, 2018

John Miller, who collects figurines and memorabilia, is looking forward to this weekend’s Shepparton Militaria and Collectables Expo at Shepparton’s Eastbank Centre.

Alan Nichols loves making model aircraft, and will have plenty to show at the expo.

Tin trinkets, bronze beauties and majestic models will all be on show at this year’s Shepparton Militaria and Collectables Expo.

Hosted by the Northern Victorian Arms Collectors Guild, the event showcases more than 100 exhibitors across two days.

The guild’s John Miller and Alan Nichols were looking forward to the event.

‘‘The event has been held at Eastbank for over 10 years and it just continues to grow,’’ Mr Nichols said.

‘‘We have a big variety at the shows,’’ Mr Miller said.

Boasting a large collection of bronze sculptures, tanks and period clothing between them, Mr Miller and Mr Nichols said one of the most exciting things about the event was the large variety of collectables that would be on show.

‘‘Our exhibitors have sold out and will include people from across Victoria and interstate,’’ Mr Nichols said.

‘‘We used to exhibit but now there just isn’t room for us. We take up both the north and south halls.’’

The event will showcase wonderful displays of notes, coins, medals, badges, militaria, guns, bric a brac and stamps, with many items up for sale.

The Shepparton Militaria and Collectables Expo is on Saturday from 9am to 5pm and Sunday from 9am to 3.30pm at the Eastbank Centre, Shepparton.

Admission costs $12 for adults and $10 for concession.
