Some of Australia’s finest tap dancers are bringing their high energy, tap comedy show to Mooroopna.
Performing at WestSide Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, April 14, The Tap Pack comes direct from London and Edinburgh, starring four of Australia’s finest performers.
Cobram’s Sam Marks is one of the four pack members, having performed on stages across the world with Cats, Wicked and King Kong Live on Stage.
‘‘The show picks up where the Rat Pack left off, it’s a tribute to the legends of that era with a modern twist,’’ Mr Marks said.
‘‘It involves a lot of energy, a lot of laughs, high quality tapping and just an all round good night out.’’
The Tap Pack conjure up a modern twist to artists from the the 1950s through to today, featuring songs from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr and Beyonce.
The performance mixes slick humour with high energy entertainment and world class tap dancing for a show the whole family can enjoy.
Mr Marks said he had always loved the style of performers such as Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire, crediting their influence on his decision to hit the stage and perform.
‘‘My first ever dance class was tap and I did it in a velcro sandal,’’ he said.
‘‘I loved it and kept coming back ... eventually I quit footy and danced six days a week.
‘‘These days I like putting my own modern influence in my choreography, but that old school theatrical style is still so important to me.’’
The Tap Pack are gearing up to hit the stage, with Mr Marks encouraging everyone to come along and watch the performance.
‘‘It is a great chance to see a new take on a lot of the old classics that we don’t get to hear a lot of today,’’ he said.
The Tap Pack will perform at WestSide Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, April 14, from 7.30pm. For more information and to book, visit riverlinksvenues.com.au
