WOW Women Group’s Lift Off scholarship fundraiser lunch will inspire and help create future leaders.

The May 6 event at the GV Hotel in Shepparton, run by WOW Women and Community Fund Goulburn Valley, will help young regional women pursue their dream of tertiary education.

The event, in its fourth year, has provided seven scholarships in the past three years.

WOW Women Group founder and chief executive Tracey Sofra said it was her passion to encourage education for the next generation to create the ultimate women of the future.

‘‘This is our biggest event on the calendar. This fundraiser is two-fold — it is a fundraiser yes, but it is still predominately to empower our local women,’’ Mrs Sofra said.

‘‘They get to have a beautiful sit-down lunch and they get to listen to a dynamic keynote speaker that is nationally well-known.’’

Author, journalist and broadcaster Tracey Spicer will inspire with her successful career story, along with the WOW guest panellists offering a Shepparton point of view and this year’s scholarship recipients Victoria Gillie and Amelia Morris.

‘‘Tracey Spicer is such an inspirational role model, she’s very approachable, very accommodating, she’s awesome,’’ Mrs Sofra said.

‘‘What the attendees get is this keynote speaker that can share all her experiences and all of her stories and challenges and successes, whatever it might be and it’s always interesting to listen to somebody else’s perspective and their take on life.’’

The Lift Off scholarship fundraiser lunch is on Sunday, May 6, at the GV Hotel from 10am to 2pm. Bookings can eb made through Eventbrite.
