Former Win News Shepparton reporter Ashlea Kunowski has hit the dance floor for a good cause.

Moving to Albury last year, Ms Kunowski’s keen interest in fitness, health and wellbeing saw her jump on board for this year’s ‘Stars of the Border’ dance for cancer fundraiser.

Ms Kunoswki said more than 10 local identities were selected for the event, training eight weeks in the lead-up tonight’s gala evening.

Ms Kunowski said her previous experience with ballroom dancing was limited to when she took part in her debutante ball about a decade ago.

‘‘I wouldn’t say I’m an expert but I picked it up pretty quickly,’’ she said.

To take part, Ms Kunowski had to raise $3000, which will go to the Cancer Council NSW.

‘‘Raising the money has been harder than learning to dance for me,’’ she said.

Ms Kunowski has almost reached her target with just $600 to go.

‘‘People can find my fundraiser page by searching Ashlea Kunowski and Everyday Hero,’’ she said.

Ms Kunowski currently works at Nine News Border North East.
