Word and Mouth has brought back CarnEvil for 2018 with even more gore, blood and horror than last year.
And Word and Mouth project manager Jim Gow said it would be like walking through a horror film.
‘‘We find, bizarrely, there’s more attraction for this sort of event with the sounds, the lights, the smoke machines and the smells, it’s really bizarre,’’ Mr Gow said.
The Shepparton Showgrounds’ multi-purpose pavilion has been enclosed by more than 200 temporary fence panels, 60m long and 20m wide, creating a maze for tonight’s CarnEvil opening at 8pm.
Attendees will be greeted with a short film to transport them back to the 1940s and 50s.
‘‘It’s a little bit like a theatre event without the food, in that the experience is the walk-through and you get the scary feels and you come out the other side relieved,’’ Mr Gow said.
Visitors will be met by a number of characters throughout the maze, including clowns and a fortune teller.
Tickets for the event can be prepaid for $10 through Word and Mouth’s CarnEvil 2018 Facebook events page until 4pm today or bought at the door for $15. Under 15s must have parental consent forms completed before entry. CarnEvil continues tomorrow from 8pm to 11pm.
