Lawn mower racing competitors are travelling hundreds of kilometres to race in Shepparton on the weekend.
Australian Ride On Lawn Mower Racing Association president Di Millsteed said there would be riders coming from as far north as Forbes, NSW, right down to Lakes Entrance, Victoria.
She said the fundraising event would be the first in Shepparton for a number of years and the money raised would go towards Goulburn Valley Health’s Give Me 5 For Kids appeal.
Ms Millsteed said entry to the event was a gold coin donation.
‘‘We don’t want to make it too expensive, we just want everyone to be able to come along and enjoy the day,’’ she said.
Ms Millsteed said people could expect to see more than 35 competitors on the day, shredding the grounds at KidsTown.
She said many people had got on board in supporting the event.
‘‘We’ve had a fantastic response from local businesses, so much so we’re running a charity auction in the lunch break. It’s going to be awesome,’’ she said.
The event will be at KidsTown, Mooroopna, on Sunday, June 10.
Gates open at 9.30am.
