Back for fun

Regional Victoria’s biggest pop culture event is set to return to Shepparton this month.

Word and Mouth project manager Jim Gow said NerdMania would run for the fourth consecutive year.

He said the event included cosplayers, interstate guests, artists and collectors for a day of fun for young people and families.

‘‘Essentially there is going to be something there for collectors, gamers, comic fans, anime fans and much more,’’ Mr Gow said.

He said ‘‘Henchwench’’ and ‘‘Scrap Shop Props’’ would be flying in from Adelaide to attend the event and speak about their costume-making antics, and Henchwench would also talk about being crowned 2016 Australian Cosplay Champion.

Mr Gow said NerdMania would offer a taste of bigger events such as SupaNova and Oz Comic-Con without going to Melbourne.

‘‘At just $15 per adult and sliding scale for younger people, or a family ticket for $35, it is cheap in comparison to its bigger brothers and sisters,’’ he said.

Mr Gow said the event was sure to entertain the whole family.

‘‘This year even more partnerships have been formed, with the emergence of a Super Hero Zone, and a focus on the under-10s, and particularly under five-year-olds, all with the help of specialists, Enchanted Rainbow,’’ he said.

NerdMania will be at the Shepparton Showgrounds on Saturday, July 28, from 10am to 5pm.
