Melbourne Cup visits Shepparton

Shepparton locals have raced ahead of this years winner to hold the Lexus Melbourne Cup for 2018.

The iconic trophy from the world famous Melbourne Cup, valued at $200th000 and made from 18 karat solid gold, began touring Australia with a visit to Shepparton yesterday. 

Former Melbourne Cup race caller of 29 years Bryan Martin brought the cup to a number of local venues including Tarcoola Village, Gowrie Street Primary School and the Maude Street Mall. 

Many were given the opportunity to hold the famous trophy and hear from the experienced caller himself.

Mr Martin said the trophy had just returned from England and Ireland last week and would travel to 37 different destinations before the Melbourne Cup later this year
